Cyber tips & tricks—making payments in the member portal and accessing UMRA discounts

Do you have your current UMRA membership card? Your card shows your membership renewal date and the QR code needed for UMRA’s on-campus parking discount, and can be used for other discounts—at University Bookstores, for example.

In the past, your membership card arrived in the mail after you renewed your membership. Creating and mailing physical cards was a time-consuming manual task for our volunteer database manager.

When we changed to our new membership management system, we discontinued mailing membership cards. Your new membership card was included in the email confirmation you received after paying your dues. If you no longer have that email, contact [email protected] and we’ll resend it to you.

The digital QR code you need for the parking discount can be added to your smart phone. Log in to the UMRA member portal to view the instructions for this.

If you prefer a paper membership card, contact [email protected] to ask for one.

Make payments easily in the UMRA member portal

There are several ways to simplify making payments in UMRA’s new member portal.

1. Buy multiple events together
In UMRA’s previous registration system, it was possible to buy all events for the year at one time. Our new member portal system doesn’t have this option. But there is a way to simplify paying for multiple events.

When you register for one or more events, you have the option to create an invoice instead of paying for each event as you register. Once you have registered for all the events you’d like, proceed to the invoices and pay for everything at once.

Here are the instructions for Paying for Multiple Invoices at Once.

2. Don't save your credit card
The new member portal allows you to save your credit card so that you don’t need to enter it each time you pay. But saving your credit card online should be done as seldom as possible. Therefore, UMRA does not recommend saving your credit card in our online system. If someone else got into your account, they could use your credit card. Using tip #1 should save you time, so you shouldn’t need to save your credit card number.

3. Pay with Apple Pay
If you have Apple Pay, you can use that at checkout to pay. It is fast and easy, and does not require saving the number online. Just select Apple Pay as your payment method and complete validation in one of two ways: If you are using Safari, you will be directed to finish the purchase using your Apple Pay account. If you are using any other browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you will be asked to scan a QR code using an iPhone with iOS version 18 or later.
