Searching for the next JOIE editor-in-chief

Do you enjoy helping authors polish their products for publication? The UMRA-sponsored Journal of Opinions, Ideas & Essays (JOIE) is a unique, online venue hosting a diverse collection of articles, essays, and videos that are enjoyed by people around the world. We are now searching for the next editor-in-chief of JOIE.

As editor-in-chief for the past four years, I have worked with the JOIE Editorial Committee to develop and document processes for the review, editing, and online posting of contributions to the journal. Since 2021, we have added 19 items to the JOIE collection, interfacing with each author to produce a high-quality product. The committee is supportive and prompt (and includes one member who has been volunteering since the journal’s inception in 2013).

Working with authors and the committee has been tremendously rewarding for me, and it was with reluctance that I have stepped down as editor-in-chief. The processes for managing JOIE are well established, and I look forward to assisting my successor.

If you enjoy helping authors polish their products for publication and would like to take on leadership of JOIE, please contact me at [email protected].

—Kristine Bettin, JOIE Editorial Committee
