UMRA to participate in U of M Day of Service

Looking for something interesting and useful to do this spring? Then please consider volunteering for the U of M Day of Service in April. Organized annually since 2015 by the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) as a day for community service, this year’s event has been expanded to the full month of April.

The U of M Day of Service is a great occasion for U of M alumni and friends to do good things in the name of the University. You do not have to be a member of UMAA—or UMRA—to participate. Spouses, partners, other family members, and friends are welcome, too. Most volunteer opportunities require just two hours per day.

Interested? It’s easy to find organizations in need of volunteers and times that work for you. Just go to the UMAA website at umnalumni.org and search for Day of Service Spring 2022. Registration for volunteering in Minnesota, national, and international locations opened in late February.

It’s easy to sign up. Pick your organization and time slot. You will receive a confirmation email and a reminder email, two to three days before your event, with site details. Don’t forget to identify yourself as an UMRA member. The Alumni Association will track our volunteer hours.

You may also volunteer your time to your favorite organization. Volunteering is not restricted to the organizations and dates listed by UMAA.

Many UMRA members may have volunteered for the U of M Day of Service in previous years through their pre-retirement collegiate unit or the University Retirees Volunteer Center. This is the first time UMRA is helping to recruit volunteers since signing a partnership agreement with UMAA in 2020.
