HIKING

Wood Lake Nature Center

Mon, May 19, 2025, 9:30am

Location
Wood Lake Nature Center
6710 Lakeshore Drive South
Richfield, MN 55423

Wood Lake Nature Center, located in the heart of Richfield just south of 66th Street and Lyndale Avenue, is a peaceful 150-acre cattail marsh, woodland, and restored prairie that is a haven for migrating birds and waterfowl. It is surprising that on its hiking trails one can find over 200 species of birds.

This UMRA hike is a great opportunity for those who would like a shorter, easier hike. The trails are dirt, grass, and woodchip, with some bridges and a bit of paved trails. Only a couple small hills to navigate, the park is mostly flat. We will hike two loops around this wonderful park, each loop is only two miles. Those who prefer a shorter hike can opt to stop after one loop.

This is a good hike for beginner hikers and those recovering from illness or injury. Pace will accommodate all hikers.

UMRA hikers will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19, in the parking lot, which has plenty of free parking.
