UMRA goes down to the corner bar one day to hang out with some other associations. One of them saunters up and says, “Hey UMRA! What’s your racket?” UMRA replies, “What’s my racket? Opportunities, pal, opportunities.”
And so it is. At its core, our association is all about providing opportunities to one another.

Nearly 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry were incarcerated in concentration camps in the western interior of the United States during World War II. Sixty-two percent of the internees were U.S. citizens, including the parents of John H. Suzukida, our guest speaker for UMRA’s January Forum.
The Mississippi River is one of the Twin Cities’ greatest assets. Our guest speaker for February, Tom Evers, executive director of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, will tell us about the RiverFirst Initiative, a bold vision to bring significant new historic, cultural, and recreational amenities to one of the most iconic locales in the state.

UMRA will hold its regular monthly meeting a week earlier than you might have expected. This is due to the 4th Tuesday being so close to the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will meet 1 week earlier, on November 17th at the usual place and time.
