Cabinets of Curiosity: Tour University Grove

Event Date:

On a bus and on foot, we’ll explore this extraordinary neighborhood—called "a living museum of Minnesota's architectural heritage"—adjacent to the University of Minnesota campus in St. Paul, with four experts including architectural historian Jane Hession, and an opportunity to visit inside two unique homes. There will be a fee to participate, to cover the cost of the bus charter and audio equipment.

University of Minnesota Gopher Athletics has provided Twin Cities campus ticket discounts to UMRA members for many years. For 2025–26, we have something special to offer: Gopher Athletics, along with UMRA members Will Craig and Bev Moe, will be hosting three Gopher games—along with a postgame gathering at the Graduate hotel on Washington Avenue. UMRA Breakfast group creates a book list

When the UMRA breakfast group met in September, we had a full house of book lovers, and a lively discussion about books we are currently reading, and favorite reads. The genres ranged from non-fiction history to mystery and fantasy. The group created a list (attached) of these books, with the author and genre. Cabinets of Curiosity: Revisiting Minnesota Memories in the University Archives

Event Date:

We will revisit the University of Minnesota Archives, with its major holdings largely tucked away in two huge underground caverns along the Mississippi River under the West Bank campus, holds the essential records of our University of Minnesota’s past. University Archivist Erik Moore will interpret the holdings and bring out a sampling of what it holds. We will also get a tour of the caverns (Minnesota Library Access Center), revealing where these precious materials are housed, including the original tapes of KUOM, now Radio K.
