Atul Gawande "Being Mortal" live video Feb 13

Dr. Gawande will speak on The Value of Community and Choice As We Get Older.  The talk is part of the celebration of 15 years of the “Village Movement” and the first Village, Beacon Hill Village in Boston.  A lecture will be followed by a question and answer period.  Dr. Gawande is donating his time to this effort.

Over 200 villages are in existence today, with more in development.  A village involves a group of residents in a given community, typically age 50 and older, forming a non-profit membership organization to provide access to services as well as  educational, recreational and social experiences. A village can range from a few blocks in an urban or suburban neighborhood to a rural area with a 20-mile radius. Each is autonomous and its members determine which services it will offer. More information about the the Village Movement is available from the Village to Village Network http://vtvnetwork.org/

Dr. Gawande’s talk is presented in the Twin Cities with the support of the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul, the St. Anthony Main Theatre, and Mill City Commons http://millcitycommons.org, Minneapolis own village. Join us for this conversation about the importance of community and the many opportunities inherent in aging. A reception will follow in the Fireside Grotto at the adjacent Pracna on Main (purchase your own beverages at the bar).
