As you know, earlier this year, UMRA entered into a partnership with not-for-profit Road Scholar, the world’s largest and most innovative creator of experiential learning opportunities. During these challenging times, Road Scholar has postponed all of its educational travel programs through January 2021. They have, however, pivoted to offering live, online, multi-day adventures through Zoom.  It’s a chance to learn from their best instructors in extraordinary places around the world.  With a week’s worth of live lectures, discussions and more, these virtual programs truly re-create the Road Scholar experience online.

We are pleased to let you know that we have secured an exclusive program – The Art and History of Paris scheduled from Monday, January 11 through Friday, January 15, 2021 for AROHE and UMRA members at a price of $499 per person.

By enrolling in this program, you will have the opportunity to live like a Parisian from the comfort of your living room. Local Parisian experts will share the very best of their city while leading explorations of world-class museums and landmarks. Take in sessions by historians and city experts on artistic masterpieces and Parisian history, while also enjoying opportunities for small-group discussions and Q&A sessions. Each day, you’ll “see” a new part of Paris and enjoy a chance to bond with your fellow Francophiles without ever leaving home.

There will be 2 to 3 hours of daily instruction, discussion and/or field trips. All you need is your computer and an internet connection – and again, this will all be broadcast live from Paris. And Road Scholar offers technical support and Zoom tutorials!

Here is some feedback from Road Scholar participants who recently attend the live, online adventure:

  • This program provides a varied, concise, riveting virtual education experience in Paris - beautiful Paris. Each day left me longing for a baguette and a cafe au lait.
  • If you can't go to Paris, this is the next best thing. Wonderful guide who knows both Paris and the French culture. I learned a lot.
