Tactile Acuity Research For Aging Piano Players

Do people who regularly engage in activities that require fine motor skills not show a decline in tactile acuity with aging? The purpose of this study is to determine whether you, a piano player, have not had a decline in your sense of touch.

Your participation is welcomed if you are between ages 55 to 75 AND have been a long-term piano player.

The study surveys your frequency of piano playing, your handedness and hand health, and tests your tactile acuity. Your appointment will be in Elliot Hall (East Bank, U of MN campus), includes free parking, and pays compensation of $15 per hour for 1 to 2 hours. This study is directed by Prof. Gordon Legge (Psychology) and Prof. Alex Lubet (School of Music).
