VOLUNTEER CENTER

Therapy Research for Post-Stroke

This summer stage is specifically for you if you have experienced a one-time stroke prior to 6 months ago and up to 7 years ago.

Eligible participants (over 18 years) will receive free physical therapy for 18 sessions during 6 weeks in June and July (summer 2017). Eligibility will be determined by the nature of your stroke (ischemic), arm movement problems, and an MRI scan (in May) to identify connections between brain areas.

This therapy, called neurocognitive, is being developed and tested by Prof. Ann Van de Winckel of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. It consists of exercises that use movement and touch to improve body awareness. The exercise appointments will last 45 min. each.

In order to protect privacy concerns please respond directly to the therapy and research project director, Prof. Ann Van de Winckel, at  [email protected].

This research will be announced separately at a later date for MRI testing of a control group of healthy persons.
