Lake of the Isles hike

Yes, this is our first Tuesday hike and it's a winner! We will hike counter clockwise around the lake, a distance of 2.6 miles. This is a great hike for the beginner or someone recovering from an injury or surgery. All paces will be accommodated. We will get amazing views of the lake's ducks and geese, see the infamous pencil, and enjoy gazing at the lovely homes surrounding the lake.
And afterwards (the Sweet part), we will walk a short distance along 28th Street for a social gathering at Isles Bun and Coffee. Isles Bun and Coffee has won national awards for its delicious cinnamon rolls and its puppy dog tails!
Meet at walking path at intersection of East Lake of the Isles Parkway at 28th Street (on the east side of the Lake). Please be at the meeting location by 9:20 am so we can start hiking by 9:30 am. Be sure to text your leader if you are running late or need to cancel.

Join UMRA friends and colleagues for a summer cruise and lunch aboard the Paradise Destiny II on beautiful Lake Minnetonka. Paul Maravelas, sailor, historian, and author of The History of Big Island, Lake Minnetonka will join us to share stories from 200+ years of lake-dwellers. Come early or stay after the cruise to explore Excelsior, a charming small town on the big lake.
Ticket price includes lunch: chef's sandwich, garden salad, fruit, chips, and cookies. Coffee, iced tea, and lemonade are complimentary and there will be a cash bar for other beverages. A vegetarian sandwich can be selected during registration.
UMRA’s Book Club I will discuss the debut novel Buckeye by Patrick Ryan when it meets via Zoom at 2 pm. on Friday, August 21.
