UMRA has a new book club and it is welcoming new readers.

Your Family History

This meeting will be a time for a broad range of questions, answers and discussion. We welcome suggestions for future meetings and would love to hear about what individuals have done/ are doing regarding their family history. 

Organizing Family Photos

The Family History webinars continued with a third presentation. Craig Swan and Lynn C. Anderson shared some ideas about gaining an overview of your photos and suggestions for labeling, organizing, and preserving both original and digital copies

Book notes | One Hundred Years of Solitude

Event Date: January 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM

The UMRA Book Club discussed One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez at its January meeting. It was a difficult read for some.

Book Club to meet February 21

Stephanie Daily will lead a discussion of Leadership: In Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin (initially scheduled for discussion in January) when the UMRA Book Club meets at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, at 1666 Coffman in Falcon Heights.

Getting started: New UMRA interest groups

UMRA is flourishing. Even now, UMRA members are finding ways to connect with others. In response to a healthy burst of recent activity, the UMRA Board has instituted a new policy for recognizing new, member-initiated interest groups.

From Star Island to China

Visit Star Island off the coast of New Hampshire and explore China with UMRA’s Armchair Traveler program on Tuesday, February 2.

Building and documenting family trees

Event Date: December 2, 2020, at 10:00 AM

The UMRA Family History group met via Zoom on December 2 for a presentation by Lynn C. Anderson and Craig Swan on building and documenting family trees using Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org.
