The Photo Club’s February 13 meeting will feature “snow and ice” pictures. Each attendee is asked to submit their favorite snow and ice pictures.

Social Committee plans St.Paul skyway tour and reception

Join UMRA friends in exploring St. Paul from skyway views. A free, two-hour tour on Sunday, January 21, 2-4 p.m., features the sky bridge photo art show “Speaking of Home,” which portrays 58 recent immigrants to Minnesota. View the nearly completed Minnesota Wild hockey training center in the old Macy’s building; learn about skyways, and much more. Stay for a reception in a condo on the 23^rd floor. This tour is limited to 35 persons.

Photo Club to meet on January 9, 12:30 p.m.

The Photo Club’s January 9 meeting will feature “repetition pictures.” Each member is asked to submit their favorite interpretations of visual repetition.

Winter Solstice Happy Hour

The Campus Club is sponsoring a "Free to Attend" Winter Solstice Happy Hour on from 4:30 - 7:00 that is open to all.  It is a great opportunity for UMRA members to get together, socialize and celebrate the holiday.  Reservations can be made directly through the Campus Club at campusclubumn.org.  Mention that your reservation is for the UMRA tables and copy me so that I can keep a list of the attendees.

Photo Club meetings to start earlier

Photo Club meetings will start 30 minutes earlier, a schedule designed to beat the afternoon commuter crush at the end of the day. November 14 meeting will feature “mystery pictures.” 

Forum on “Opioids: Friend of Foe?”

VAN (Vital Aging Network) offers a free lecture/discussion on opioid benefits and dangers.

The speaker will be Dr. Anne Pylkas, who is board certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine.

The October Photo Club meeting is the perfect time to show off your favorite photos. If you enjoy taking pictures, consider coming to one of our meetings. We welcome photographers of all abilities. Most of us are struggling amateurs who like to take pictures and want to get better. We all benefit from the help we get from each other.

Wines of the Pacific Northwest

Join Jason Kallsen at the Campus Club on October 19th as he hosts another fun wine class! This class will detail the regions of Willamette Valley in Oregon and the Walla Walla region of Washington, while tasting through fantastic examples and learning about the different wines of the region.  $38 includes appetizers.

Have you visited a friend or family member in hospice care? Do you have questions about the pallative care provided? On September 20 at noon, the Minnesota Gerontological Society (MGS) will offer a free Webinar on the subject of hospice. Register on the organization's website (www.mngero.org).

UMRA Photo Club meets May 12

The Photo Club welcomes photographers of all abilities.  Most of us are struggling amateurs who like to take pictures and want to get better. We benefit from the kind and supportive help we get from each other. The next meeting will be held at the Washburn Library, 5344 Lyndale Ave. South in Minneapolis from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12.

Photo Club meets April 14

The UMRA Photo Club will meet Friday, April 14, 1 to 3 p.m. at the St. Anthony branch of the Hennepin County Library, in the small shopping center at New Brighton and St. Anthony Boulevards. Come at noon for lunch at the Great Dragon Buffet across the parking lot from the library (ask for the senior discount).

April 2017 Come early and socialize before the luncheon

You are invited to meet and greet friends in the comfortable surroundings of the Campus Club lounge. Beginning in March, the Campus Club has opened its bar–lounge, just down the hall from our ABC luncheon room, for UMRA members to have coffee and visit before the luncheons.

Come early, beat the rush, and enjoy catching up with friends and acquaintances. Coffee is served at 10 a.m.  There is no charge and no need to RSVP.  Just let us know if you like this opportunity, and if we should continue this next year.
