Please join the UMRA Family History Interest Group (FHIG) meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, via Zoom when Craig Moody will present “The search for Anna Christina Modig: A tale with many dead ends.”
His Moody family ancestors, including his great-great grandfather Elof Peterson Modig and his sister Anna Christina Modig, were among the 60,000 Swedes who chose to emigrate to the United States between 1868 and 1871, because of the poor economic conditions in Sweden. Elof and his family started a new farm in Minnesota. Anna Christina went to Boston, and her life in the U.S. has been the subject of Craig Moody’s search for the last nine years.
There should be time after his presentation for an open Q and A, and discussion about topics for next year’s FHIG meetings.
A Zoom invitation will be sent to all UMRA members one month and again one week before the May 13 program. We hope you can join us.

Older adults often have difficulty with sleep. Our goal for this informal discussion is to share with each other helpful routines and strategies. Our resource person will be sleep specialist Marcel Hungs, MD, PhD.
UMRA Book Club I will discuss The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry when it meets via Zoom at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 18. The day’s discussion leader will be Judy Helgen.

UMRA’s second “Campus Conversation” with a University leader will offer UMRA members an exclusive opportunity to meet with John Morris, president and CEO of the University of Minnesota Foundation. The focus of the conversation will be the role of the foundation and its relationship to retirees.
UMRA’s Book Club I will discuss the historical fiction novel The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict when it meets via Zoom at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16.
