Behind-the-scenes visit to the Bell Museum

Whether or not you think you've already seen it all at the Bell Museum, join recently retired Curator Don Luce and retired historian and professor of earth sciences Sally Gregory Kohlstedt for an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the collections of the Bell Museum. This will be the first in a new UMRA series of visits to several significant museums and collections on campus, to talk with curators and explore their "Cabinets of Curiosity."

The first meeting of the UMRA Photo Club for 2023 will start with members sharing pictures on the theme "circles."

Tracing family history with DNA testing

The Family History Interest Group learned about tracing family history using DNA testing and tools including Ancestry DNA, 23andMe, and GEDmatch which uses the GEDCOM files generated by those companies to connect across platforms.

It’s the story of a destitute young man during the Great Depression who found a reason to keep living against all odds: driving two giraffes from New York City to San Diego.

The next meeting of the UMRA Photo Club will be in person in the meeting room of the St. Anthony Library in New Brighton. For December the THEME is Bridges. Lunch at the Great Dragon Restaurant nearby at 11:30.
